For over 30 years, I, Megan Wilson, have dedicated my knowledge to creating aesthetic, beautiful landscapes in Tauranga, Auckland, Coromandel, Taupo, and Hamilton. As a one-woman business, I bring a personal touch to every project. With my project management and networking, I ensure that each client's vision is brought to life.
The value I believe in, is that landscaping is about creating a cohesive relationship with people, environment, plants and places. Giving the created landscape clarity of function and form, meeting the client’s requirements in a way that respects each other’s values.
For 30 years, I’ve been using plantings in a cohesive way by considering how they interact with both natural and structural elements. This approach can be stimulating, inspiring and enhance a person’s life. This reflection still holds true as a business concept.

My Māori ancestral roots and perspective have revealed the motivation behind my work. I aim to create landscapes that make an extension of your home and lifestyle.
I am Megan Wilson, the founder of Earth Canvas. I have a rich background in horticulture and landscape design. My journey began in coastal hill country farming, leading to nursery work and further education in horticulture and graphic design. My passion for landscaping and connection to the natural world led me to establish Earth Canvas, where I combine my skills and experience to create beautiful, functional outdoor spaces.
I hold a Diploma in Landscape Design and Technology, a Diploma in Nursery Management, a Certificate in Graphic Arts and several Te Reo and Māori practices. I am also a member of the Landscape Industries Association of New Zealand (LIANZ). My work is characterised by an understanding of site analysis, plant selection, and sustainable practices.
With 30 years of experience, I make it easy for clients to achieve their landscaping dreams. My knowledge of plants suited to Aotearoa's climate, inspired by various landscape architects, guarantees that every project is both beautiful and sustainable. I love the creative process and work closely with everyone involved to craft cohesive and inspiring landscapes.
And it’s not just about design—it’'s about providing quality plants to bring those designs to life. Whether these are native plants or ornamental species, I try to connect as much as possible with local suppliers (e.g. Daltons, Pepper Tree Nusery, Earth Force, Tauranga Tree Co) meaning you’ll always get the best sources.
